First the placings, I guess: 1. Stan 2. Catch-22 3. Chevron Action Flash ---------------------------- 4. Red 5. Blue Arse Flies ============================ 6. Sneeeky's 7. Superfly 8. Mud Culture 9. Jedi II (Plate) 10. Phat 'Eds I 11. Flying Sorcerers 12. Twin Peaks 13. Bears 14. Purple Haze (Spirit) 15. Nads 16. Jedi I 17. Jesters (Spoon) 18. Fingers Six 19. Sneeeky's II 20. Disciples 21. Sneeeky's III 22. Phat 'Eds As you've no doubt already heard, the weather was not the best (force 8 gale Saturday, drizzle and heavier rain Sunday), but I don't think that prevented decent games taking place: indeed one beginner came over enthusing about how much his sidearm had improved on Saturday! Most of the pool games went with seedings, although Mud Culture and Nads both beat Jesters to make the top 16 and Sneeeky's I got a fright off Phat Eds (7-5 final score). Once the knock out stage was reached things got much more interesting. Mud Culture eased out Purple Haze to make the top 8, while third seeds Chevron struggled to beat plucky young Nads (including at last 2 people under the age of 13!). The rest of the top 8 seeds cruised through. Quarter finals saw Red go through against Sneeeky's to confirm their top 4 seeding while Chevvy got their act together against Superfly before they and Red crashed to Catch and Stan respectively in the semis (both results to 3). Inevitably the lower seedings were more hotly contested. Blue Arse Flies recovered from a shutout hammering from Catch to beat Superfly and retain interest in qualifying: indeed they did qualify, winning a titanic battle 12-8 against Sneeeky's I. Jedi II and Phat 'Eds contested the plate with Jedi II prevailing, while Jesters deservedly took the Spoon despite Rob's insistence on tossy passes (you're not indoors yet!). The final I didn't see, but I heard it was quite tightly fought with Catch easing to 11-9 before Stan recovered and cap was taken at 11-11, Stan's experience allowing them to keep the disc where others might not have and take the trophy 13-11. Thanks to Simon for finding such a good venue, and I'm sure everyone appreciated Fi's incessant efforts to keep everyone in toasties and tea. I was especially pleased to see so many new teams out this year - we had 4 mote than last year and given space could have probably got another two. Keep it together indoors and see you in more rain in April. Congratulations and good luck for the weekend to those who qualified, especially so the Blue Arse Flies, and well done to Nads who played impressively in all games. Watch them in 18 months. That's it, I'mn off to catch up on all the work I haven't done over the past 3 weeks.......
