Day 5 saw another day of very few wins for British teams. With just one =
day of play left for our teams, these are the current positions.
Shotgun finished bottom of their final pool, but put in some good =
performances against the Dutch Red Lights (15-19) and Sweden's Carnegie =
(16-19). Shotgun now play their final two games against Big Ass Truck, =
and either Nomads or Boulder Beer. They have to win both to retain their =
original seeding of 17th. Losing both would see them finish 20th =
overall.
Catch 22 lost their two remaining pool matches to Orange Crush 12-18 and =
Wild Colonial Boys 8-19. They now play against Mephisto and Frizzly =
Bears to decide positions 33-35. Catch were seeded 35th, so have to win =
a game to better their seeding.
Druids lost a close game to King Brown 16-19, and beat Yanomamis 19-9. =
They now face Tequilla Disc and Cynics to decide positions 42-44. =
Originally seeded 28th, I can't see them being too happy with their =
results.
At the top of the competition, Sockeye (1) now meet Canada's Furious =
George (16) in one semi-final, and Double Happiness (2) meet Refugees =
(3). The only upset was Furious George beating Chain Lightning 19-12 to =
stop it being all-American semis.
Stan won their final pool match as expected against Esoterics 19-10, and =
went into the quarter-finals against the top team from the other =
pool(after a 3 way tie at the top), Beyonders. Stan lost 6-19, so they =
move into the 5-8 group playing Vitamin I first.
Where's Bob finished off their pool losing to Beyonders 10-19 (better =
score than Stan achieved against them). With just one win in the pool, =
Where's Bob now play DEAD in the 17-20 section.
In the Women's competition, Red Lights pulled off a sudden Death win =
over Seven Green Bottles (15-14) to put them into the quarter-finals. =
There they dispatched Rare Air 14-11, and now meet Women on the Verge in =
the semi finals. The other semi final will be between Lady Godiva and =
Schwa.
