Our regional had no half-times (or >time-outs) which makes winning/losing the toss a bit vital. [Not that = I'm >making excuses, Monks played dreadfully and had plenty of opportunities >to win the game.] High standards must be set for games which are >self-evidently going to be important, even if they can't be applied to = all >games in a busy tournament. Monks did have a representative at the captain's meeting, and I believe = they raised the relevant point. All quarter final and semi final games = were an hour long, with a cap of 2 at time. We agreed not to have half = time, but as pointed out by one of the Monks, the two captains have the = right to agree a half time if they wish. Personally, I was in favour of = all games having half-time, even if it was only to turn around and = negate the flip of discs; but I was happy to leave that to the captains = to determine. I felt that an hour plus cap of two (with unlimited time to make those = two points) was sufficient for this very important game, given that all = 'non-important' games were 45 or 50 minutes. As it turned out, after an = hour's play, Tribal Desire had lost 10-2 to Druids, and Monks were = leading 3-2 against Headrush. I then had Patch run over to confirm = whether they should play the point, and then cap 2 above top score, or = cap immediately. I'd interpreted it as cap at time, and not cap after = the point had been scored. I would have been happy to accept whatever = the captain's agreed, or refer the matter to the TRG. As it was, I heard = no complaints. Commiserations to Monks for losing the semi-final, and thus being unable = to come higher than 5th next weekend. I'm sure they will do well, and = ironically, may well meet Headrush in the quarter final playoff to = determine which one makes the top eight. Revenge should be sweet. Kevin.
