It is good to see certain people willing to put in the effort to run tournaments. I do feel, however, that it is necessary to mention that at this particular tournament many things were lacking or inadequate that we should be able to take for granted at tournaments these days particularly when we are paying £100 per team. Having run tournaments myself in the past these things should be considered as fundamental. There were: -NO cones on the first day and not enough cones on the second day; -NO water butts at the side of the pitches; -NO scoreboards; -NO shelter at the pitches for that unpredictable northern weather :) (there was a perfectly good iron frame available which if covered with a simple tarpaulin would have provided a large decent shelter); -NO hot showers (this may be forgiveable if some people had hot showers and the water just ran out, but in fact they were freezing because the boiler was not turned on and the organizers had to be reminded about it on the second day as well!); -the changing rooms were a building site and the ladies closed altogether so the size of the changing rooms was halved (there were desks in the shower!); -the toilets threatened to overflow; -the endzones were too small and one pitch had a sand pit in the middle of it. There are bound to be a few unpredictable foul-ups at any tournament but in this case there were just too many to go unmentioned. I assume that I am not the only one to feel this way but if I am, my apologies. I hope for better things at Tour 4. Dora Kemp Excess Bee
