Just a quick report on Kowpat'97 the first ever Mad Kows Ultimate
Tournament held last weekend (17th and 18th of May) here at the Open
University in Milton Keynes. First off a big thank you must be said to
Phat'eds, Angels, Playthings, Alien Nation, Catch 22, OW, Albatross, Go
Fish, Stanley Peaks, the Flourence Park Flowers and all the pick-up players
for coming along and giving us such a great weekend. The weather can only
be summarised as sunny, rainy, sunny, being on average pretty wonderful.
The play was tough but fair and the spirit was just great.
We'd like to give a special mention to the Flourence Park Flowers who came
along and played with us on Saturday in this their first tournament. The
Flowers are a new team who we enjoyed meeting and we hope to see much more
off in the future.
Every game that I had a chance of seeing was played with great spirit and
friendship. A great example of which was the tournament final played
between Catch 22 and OW. Congratulations must go to both teams for playing
so well and giving all the rest of such an exciting game to watch -
especially during the two point cap.
So to cut the bovine here are the final placings......
1st - Catch 22 (Final - Winner of a Kowpat and Cup)

5th - Stanley Peaks (Plate Final - Winner of a Kowpat and Plate)
6th - Playthings

9th - Angels (Spoon Final - Winner of a Kowpat and Spoon)

11th - Mad Kows (1)
12th - Mad Kows (2)
For those of you who really want to know, the official match results are
added to the end of this message, so you'll just have to read on. The
Spirit Award; a complete matching set of artificial Kow-skin team hats, was
given by a majority vote (even after a post final vote switch from Catch 22
- bless'em) to the Phat'eds. These are of an exclusive design not be found
in your average high street store, so look out for them on a Phat'ed near
you.
Well thats the long and the short of it - thanks for reading this far. A
few items of lost property have been found so if you lost anything please
get in touch. See you all next year.

ps - Individual Game Results:
All games except the final were 45 minutes or 13 points with a 10 minute or
2 point cap. The final was an hour long game with a 2 point (unlimited
time) cap. Half-times and time-outs were left for the captains to decide
prior to each game.......
