They are 'provisional' because, apart from BAF who sent me direct, I haven't received the rosters from the TD. This means there may be adjustments for the new player bonus. I'll confirm the positions as soon as I get the rosters which I am sure will be any day now ;-) In future I'll post provisional positions right after the event and then post confirmed positions when I've got the rosters. A couple of points: *** I got a handful of emails on the subject of rosters. A couple of people think they are unecessary, and a couple of people think they should be stricter. Seems to me that the best approach for this season is to keep it the way it is. - The rosters are useful for ensuring that teams at nationals only field players who have played for them at some point on the tour. - They are also useful for ensuring integrity within any given event (if a team/indiv knows that their name is on a roster, then they know that there is no 'grey area' in which to try and site themselves in order to end up playing for more than one team) - They are also essential for the new player bonus. - We might as well be used to them cos they are likely to be stricter next year as per the Open Tour. - Getting stricter would be a bit unfair this late in the day, as I suggested on BD at the beginning of the Co-Ed Tour. *** A couple of people have suggested that the new player bonus is an idea that is a bit out of date, as the Co-Ed Tour is not really a soft Tour. Maybe that is true, and there is an argument, in a competitive Tour, for not rewarding teams because they field weaker players. But I don't think we are quite there yet this year, especially with no international careers at stake. The new player bonus only really affects teams lower down the order. It gives them a little reward for bringing people in, and it may sort out some of the lower Tour positions. I think it is best to keep it as it is for this season. Obviously comments are welcome. Here are the scores so far...
