Medical cover is the duty of the TD. FULL STOP. 1. It is also my experience that St Johns type/level of 1st aid is a waste of time 2. first aid is imperative at tournaments, especially at tour events 3. 1st aid needs to be in the hands of professional medics 4. medics should be in a place where they can BE FOUND! 5. There should be cross tournament communication (for big tournies, by radio) so that emergencies can be quickly attended to. 6. Accident reporting should become the norm at uku events 7. UKU should provide a standard accident report form for TDs, which should be filled in for each "serious" injury, (especially if it may result in a claim on UKU personal insurance); which should subsequently be lodged with UKU. 8. There needs to be a greater level of support for TD's (particulalry in UKU sanctioned events) from the UKU if this issue is to be improved. There is already some help whcih you can get from Paul Marfleet, but this is not online. 9. ukultimate.com should have a page specifically directed to TDs and should include: public liability insurance details, accident report form, link to upa tourny formats, H&S checklist, copies of Hughes' spreadsheets for setting out tour events etc . . . . Chris Berry has already expressed interest in doing this. Maybe DoC should liaise with Chris to make this happen as a part of the UKU website. Stig
