The final was played in the greatest atmosphere I have ever experienced at any tournament. Complete with Mexican wave, and 'We Will Rock You' style stomping and clapping. The first few points were traded with strong D being played by both teams, and OW! crept out to a 3-2 lead. It was then that Purple Haze's determination and superior fitness started to show. Combined with a deteriation of OW!'s experienced players play (including me getting stalled out on my own endzone line, and then turning my back on the disc and letting the score go straight past my head!!!) this allowed Purple Haze to score 6 in a row. By then Purple Haze had completely managed to shut down OW!'s long game, and so they settled back into working the disc up the pitch. During the dying minutes OW! fought hard and managed to come back with 3 unanswered points, but time ran out and left Purple Haze victors, at 8-6. And by the end of it, I think at least some of the crowd were cheering for OW! ? So once again, congratulations to Purple Haze, for a well played final, and well won tournament. But much more importantly, well done to Lindsay, and all the Edinburgh team for a fantasticly hosted tournament. I really look forward to returning next year.
