From: rmande@axionet.com (Rob Mandeville) Subject: World Ultimate Championships Hello Everybody, Well, it is only 100 days away now. The most exciting thing in Ultimate is about to descend on Vancouver and give all of us seven days of the most extraordinary playing you can imagine. There are teams representing 18 countries at the tournament and an expected 1600-1800 players. There are some remarkable things at this tournament, Brazil and China are both sending teams for the first time to worlds, and Japan is sending an amazing 11 teams, that puts them as the 3rd largest country represented behind Canada and the USA. As you can imagine this is going to be a truly inspired tournament for play, but what about all that other stuff that makes those players want to come here. All the organizing committee are doing a superb job of getting ready for all of you coming to the tournament. Chris Lowe and Nylene Geyer and their crew have planned some incredible parties with great bands and much booze to entertain everyone. Remember that volunteering is your ticket to these monumental parties and it is also a great way to meet people from around the world. Beth Freeman and her mighty crew are hard at word getting sponsorship for fun things to bulk up the volunteer/player packages. If you know of anything/anyone who may be able to help her with stuff for these packages give us a shout. Speaking of ways you can help we would like to have you help us build our volunteer pool to even greater levels than it is at now. Currently we have almost 100 volunteers helping at this point - WE WANT MORE PEOPLE. One of your first big task as a volunteer is to help build our volunteer pool. "Find a friend or two" and recruit them to help us make this tournament even better. We need more people who want to be part of the biggest thing to happen to Ultimate in Vancouver. I also want to remind all of you to get in touch with Scott Lewis or Rob Mandeville if you are having difficulty communicating with your section head, we will be more than glad to help you connect with them. Well that is all for now, and remember only 100 more days. Rob Mandeville Volunteer Crew Chief
