I don't think we are in any position to 'force' the issue (i.e. enforcing a given co-ed split). Rather we should be encouraging women to play at whichever level they feel comfortable and develop from there. I am not saying we discount this as an option (and potentially give it a try in the near future), just to think more long term and implement these kind of changes as part of a considered plan. We have made a great start in this by establishing and improving the co-ed tour, an example of decent long term planning and a great foundation to build from. I would suggest that we begin development by canvassing opinion from all women in UK ultimate on how they would like to play and develop the game. Currently we have no definitive information on the type and scope of events women would like to get involved in. The women's event on 16th Dec would be a good opportunity to get this started. Once we have a realistic idea of opinion, we can start forming coherent strategies and options. Then we will ALL be able to have our say about the long term implementation of developing and encouraging women in UK ultimate [via voting] and not be confined to those who are willing and able to participate in BD discussion. Just my thoughts, but this is obviously an issue which the new association needs to address, and one I'm sure that the board (whoever they may be) will take great care in examining. Vote Harv.
