Many university clubs are now required to supply their unions with a risk assessment of some form. Most venues want to see civil liability insurance cover (which we have) We are intending to offer personal accident cover as part of the UK Ultimate membership package though obviously thats not the same as proper preventative measures. I think there is a strong case for professional medical cover at big tournaments and I would like to see this happen. I think however that we must not overkill and insist on this at *all* events otherwise the fun events will get much more expensive. Two other things I would like to see are:- 1. A full set of health and safety guidelines for clubs and event organisers. 2. An audit of injuries sustained by players with the aim of identifying and reducing the major sources of risk. I don't claim to know a huge amount about sports medicine but I was a medical audit clerk in a previous job. I very much hope we can call upon the experience of someone who works in the field (I think we're talking someone with at least a Dip Sports Med or even an MSc in Sports Med!!! ;-) Is there a doctor in the house?
