Admittedly this would have left byes in the fight for semi final places. But that's not your fault. I thought the structure of the tour is supposed to make it impossible for any team outside the upper group to penetrate the top half of that group, over one tour event. Also by promoting LLL from 9th to 4th they would not receive the full implications of getting knocked out of the top eight from the previous tour. The tour is about consistency of play not what you can pull out of the bag on the day. To the Ultimate Committee. We only found out about clapham's withdrawal on Friday. The schedule had been written and we wanted to change it as little as possible. We tried getting hold of the u8c committee but failed. When we reseeded the teams it was unavoidable that one team or another would have had to have byes and have played less games.... we were just trying to limit the damage late on Friday with a busy day at work - hence the action taken. You may feel that this sounds a bit dodgy but we had to make a decision and the action taken was the easiest and quickest way. I apologise to the ultimate committee and any teams that feel hard done by but as any other tournament director will confirm, last minutes changes cause problems which often lead decisions that are sometimes not favorable. Please be assured that any decision made was for the interest of all teams. Apologies once again and I hope you all still respect Rik and I as tournament directors who would still want to hold a tour event in Leeds.
