Whenever a receiver takes more steps than he or she requires to stop after catching a pass, that receiver has traveled. 3. If a receiver, after receiving a pass on the run, releases a pass after making three ground contacts and before coming to a complete stop, that receiver has traveled. -- Neil Travers
