Hi
thanks to everyone involved in the Nationals. You all helped to make
it one of the most enjoyable I've ever attended. Particular plaudits
to Shrub for great spirit during such a tense semi, and to the Druids
(am I really saying this?) for staying cool when we looked like we
had the final sown up at 4-2.
I think one of the most important factors in our (U.T.I.'s) success
was that we played with great team spirit all weekend. We had our
fair share of duff throws, drops and general headless-chickeness.
However, at no point did we ever stop enjoying the game, nor did we
start getting at each other. This gave us the confidence to play
effective, varied offence and committed D. If you read through a few
back copies of Ultimatum you'll find other examples of this effect
(and how many times have teams lost their spirit at a critical point
and then completely fallen apart?). So give it a try the next time
things are going down the pan-you'll certainly enjoy the game more,
you'll probably play better and who knows you might even win!
Cheers
Leo

PS Fair play to Rob Cole for bringing us to account for our lack of
call. Spirit of the Game encompasses many things, none of which
should be neglected.
