If these increase are really due to higher costs then how about someone posts one of the budgets/cost analysis from one tour last year and one tour this year, that way we can all see the difference. Assuming that each tour runs at a small profit surely a small cut in profits to offer student discounts would be acceptable in order to encourage student teams. more information = less scepticism = less whining/bitching = happier people Jon ----- Original Message ----- From: Robert Owen <robertowen1@hotmail.com> To: <britdisc@csv.warwick.ac.uk> Sent: Thursday, February 22, 2001 6:02 PM Subject: Tour Costs. Venues cost money. Do you honestly think that Chris and whoever else make the decisions about hosting Tour events have the luxury of picking bids on the basis of cost. There aren't that many suitable venues out there and there aren't many people willing to organise events. If there were then cost could be one of the factors taken into consideration. Yes it's a pain when the showers are cold and yes it's annoying that costs are going to go up. But it's unlikely that there were many viable alternatives. Would you rather there was no Tour at all. The cost may put students off but split between a team of 8 you're only talking about an extra £10 a player. There may be exceptions but generally everyone ( even students ) who really want to play will be ablt to save up that amount extra every 3 or 4 weeks Those that put bids together should be applauded for their hard work. More bids = more competition = lower costs. Rob _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
