Points being forfeited is far and away a better way of ensuring that people get to play than the normal course of events in the US. If you go to Sectionals (kind of like the tour - sort of...) then as a coed team, you must be prepared to field a full 7, split the way that the offence decides (i.e. 4 men 3 women or 4 women 3 men). If you fail to do so, then YOU FORFEIT THE GAME. No "Can we borrow a woman" no "go on please play 4 men 3 women" - That's it - you lose. I have been on the receiving end of the "lose a point per minute" thing and I have been on a team that could have taken advantage of it. It's far better to lose points than the game outright.
