At least in this case the team that seems most aggrieved (Hammerage) had a chance to set the record straight. I think the result of the game between Headrush and Hammerage speaks for itself. The serious issue here is that rescheduling the tournament on Saturday night was ever considered. Had a significant number of teams dropped out then of course rescheduling would have been appropriate. However, to consider such a sweeping change on the basis of one team's departure from a tournament is ludicrous. As Chris has said, the captains meeting is the place for last minute changes. At the very worst any rescheduling of the tournament should have been made aware to ALL teams before the end of play on Saturday. To set the record straight, Headrush had not 'worked out that they did not have to play'; we spoke with the tournament organisers to check the situation regarding any possible bye. Only then did we make plans for the next day. David J.C. From my above comment it is clear that Headrush acted on information obtained from tournament officials. Whether our players chose to stay or go home is irrelevant. We all would have liked the tournament to have been better (I know Nancy and Ian did their best in the face of adversity). I'm currently nursing a very badly damaged ankle as result of going over on one of the ruts in fields before our last game on Saturday. For me the whinging who should get a bye and the slanderous undertones of the comments regarding Headrush really have added insult to injury.
