Whether you are an Ultimate fanatic, dedicated Disc Golfer, or someone who floats serenely above and beyond both of these great sport, THE AGE THING WILL CATCH YOU ALL OUT EVENTUALLY! If you have reached this second paragraph, you (or someone you know) have (has) already qualified to compete in the up-coming World Masters Flying Disc Championships 2000, which will take place in Rochester, New York. For those that are unaware, the North Americans made great efforts to attend the (Open, i.e. NO AGE LIMIT) World Overall Championships in Kalmar, Sweden during the summer of 1999 - and many of them were veterans of the 35-and-over annual event. I think it would only be fitting if we Europeans made a similar effort to join in their celebration of Disc Sports ... "But I've never even competed in an 'Overall' event!" ... all the more reason to make the trip and enjoy the experience of mixing it with the true 'legends' of Disc Sports - there is no qualification necessary! Everybody is welcome. The "Masters" (or "Seniors" as some still call it) continues to attract many of the founders, past and current world champions of our family of Disc Sports: Disc Golf; Freestyle; Self Caught Flight; Distance; Accuracy; Double Disc Dourt (DDC) and Discathon. If you think an Ultimate-only or a Disc-Golf-only event is a challenge ... its about time you took part in the 'decathlon' (okay, maybe 'septathlon') of Disc Sports! So why am I saying all this? ... because I cannot keep this secret to myself any longer! The World Masters 2000 will be my FOURTH in a row and while its great to be the only European, I can't help feeling that my 'continental' friends are missing out on an experience of a lifetime! The event details are listed on the 'Discovering The World' website at: http://dtworld.com/masters.htm If you cannot make it during the week of 10-15 July, then maybe I will catch up with you at either the PDGA Worlds (Ann Arbor, USA) or World Ultimate & Guts (Heilbronn, Germany) ... but by then it will be too late! Please contact me if you want to know more about the European invasion of World Masters.
