Recognition by your Uni is not necessary for hiring their sports fields! [Yes, recognition might be useful, as BUSA might then get involved in the organisational work, set up Student Leagues, etc...] examples: Warwick Uni recognises Ultimate and has (2?) dedicated Ultimate pitches, but there hasn't been a "Warwick Outdoors" for a while; Southampton Uni has recognised Ultimate as a Colours sport for a fair few years now, but I'm not sure that the AU has yet dedicated a pitch for Ultimate training/match purposes... yet they will allow use of the entire sports facility for weekend tournaments. If Students approached their universities requesting use of the entire sports facility for a weekend, wouldn't this help the bid for recognition...? e.g. The Lurkers used the Imperial College grounds at Cobham for a tournament last year, and all of a sudden IC worked out what their Ultimate club were really about... The way things are going at the moment, if you approach a Uni and say, "We want to hire your fields, and we want you to mark them like this..." they're not too bothered WHY, so long as you'll pay the price, and you're not going to clash with another sports pre-booked fixtures. If Students are willing to approach their Unis to investigaet the possibilities of using the facilities for tournaments, but are unsure as to what else needs to be done in tournament organisation, there are people and resources that can help.
