Sender: owner-britdisc@warwick.ac.uk Precedence: bulk Whilst it is great having close to 35 teams at each event there does come a point where, due to cross-overs and the like, final positions of teams becomes more 'luck of the draw' and not always reflects the true performance of a team. I know it comes down to winning the crucial games when you have to but I can see that running much smaller events could also reduce the 'lottery' factor. I think that maybe tournies with 12 teams (perhaps 3 of these equivilent to one of the current Tour events, effectively a div. 1, 2 and 3) with perhaps 3 teams promoted and 3 demoted after each round could provide an alternative. I realise that organising 3 events is a much harder prospect than 1, but I know about a few of the difficulties of getting (and keeping) venues. A 5 pitch tournie is a much less daunting prospect that a 10 pitch-er and any team can organise 5 decent pitches, even some of the high flying teams! This is effectively the system that the Dutch frisbee bond adopt, though theirs is only a league system. I'm suggesting a league/tournie highbrid. Slipdisc wish to thank Nancy and Ian for all their efforts, though next time we'll bring our rollers! Mal.
