Hi all,

Well, it was an interesting weekend, and the u8 committee had some work to do.

Catch 22 withdrew, and came to the committee with a couple of proposals:

1. That the tournament be declared void - no tour points would be allocated
to ANY team due to the un suitability of the pitches
2. That Catch do not get penalised by withdrawing
3. That they get a refund for the tournament.

As a committee, we didn't agree with the first proposal. However, we did
recognise that, yes, the pitches were not suitable for a Tour tournament.
Also, as one of the founding principles of the tour was to guarantee high
quality pitches (it's in the rules!), we agreed that any team had the right
to withdraw from the tournament.

However, to declare the tournament void was certainly not going to please
the rest of the 29 teams who decided to play on the pitches.

Because we do recognise the right of Catch to withdraw, they will not be
penalised in the same way as if they had pulled out at the last minute due
to other circumstances (eg not having enough players). The way that we
agreed was to treat Catch as if they had not ever entered this tournament.
They get no points for Tour II, therefore, and are seeded for Tour III
based on their Tour I position, as written in the rules.

As for their refund, we felt that because this was a BUF sponsored
tournament, that this would have to be discussed with them. We didn't get a
decision on this by the end of the weekend, as far as I am aware.

I hope that makes things clearer. We tried to make the best decision in
light of the situation and the Tour rules.
