MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Mailer: Turnpike Integrated Version 4.02 S <pjZRgFWDsQK5ViyP$l4rxVrb6a> Sender: owner-britdisc@warwick.ac.uk Precedence: bulk Polo, the sport of Princes, Princesses and the "Fabulous Graces" by all accounts... US Nationals was held at a Polo ground - maybe the UK could follow their example? I'm led to believe that ONE polo arena should measure 300yds x 200yds and by my maths that's large enough for about EIGHT Ultimate (125yds x 40yds) pitches - That's a reasonable tournament size! I've also heard tell that an Indoor Polo Arena is "only" 100yds x 50yds. If there's a suitable surface and decent height, that's near enough a covered Ultimate pitch - winter training could be a real possibility. Anyone out there play Polo? Anyone know if my "facts" are right? or know anyone that does? Can you check the possibility of using the grounds? Can you provide any contacts/leads for somebody that might be interested in running an Ultimate tournament at a Polo ground? I've found a few Polo websites, but not had the time (and I, not my employer, pay for my surfing!) to look through them properly. http://www.polonews.com/ seems to be the best starting point for links, etc... Apparently, Polo is (also) taught/played at the following Unis: Oxford Brookes; Bristol; University of London (ULU) Anyone know anything about where, when, etc? Wayne PS: Could this bring a whole new meaning to "Chukka Disc" !? ---------------------------------------------------------------- Wayne Retter at home: 01737-242109 wayne@phidelta.demon.co.uk mobile: 07970-903420 w.retter@england.com at work: 01737-273611
