Please note that the pubs will now be aware that you might be coming, and that I have therefore made you all ambassadors for the sport of Ultimate. If there's any trouble, it will be blamed on "those Ultimate players". I don't expect anyone to start anything, but don't get involved in any trouble. Security: There's also now the chance that we may get some spectators. Unfortunately this will also increase the inherent security risk, so please ensure that you know that all your valuables are always somewhere safe (from bitter experience I'd suggest that "in a tent" is not necessarily "somewhere safe") - don't leave your gear lying around unattended where any "undesirables" might remove it... On the other hand, don't get paranoid. Wayne --- letter --- Dear Sir ULTIMATE FRISBEE TOURNAMENT - 29 & 30 APRIL 2000 We shall be hosting an Ultimate tournament at King Edward's Place (Allied Dunbar's Training and Conference Centre) on the above dates, and expect between three hundred and four hundred players to attend and participate. I thought it best to warn the local Public Houses that there is the distinct possibility that many of these players may visit the local hostelries seeking food and refreshment, particularly on Saturday evening. In our past experience, somewhere between twenty-five and seventy-five players meet at the Shepherds Rest on Friday evening. On the Saturday evening we usually have use of the Dining Hall and Bar at King Edward's Place, but I have heard that many of the players favour the local Public Houses. I have been advised that both the Bar at King Edward's Place and the Shepherds Rest are unable to accommodate us on the Saturday evening, and have advised the players accordingly. I would therefore expect more of our players to visit the local Public Houses. Unfortunately, I can predict neither numbers, nor which Public Houses they will visit. Hopefully, you will be able to take whatever action you feel appropriate. I trust that you will not be inconvenienced by any of the players. Yours faithfully Wayne Retter for and on behalf of Layout Dreams --- pub list --- NB: If you want to know where any of these pubs are, I'd suggest using http://www.streetmap.co.uk/ and searching for the Post Codes. The maps at Streetmap seem much improved in detail recently.
