I think that'd be good. But are there enough players prepared to commit
themselves to it? It'd ideally need a minimum of four teams (= two games
going on simultaneously) i.e. 30-40 people who will commit to showing up
*every* week. I'm guessing that we'd be unlikely to find that many
regulars. But I'd be really happy to be proved wrong.

Alternatively, how about just three teams, with two teams each week
playing a full match, and the other team helping bolster a pick-up game?
Needs less people. And more flexible - means that people who can't commit
to a league team can still show up and get a game.

Anyway...

Part of my reason for asking about practices stems from an idea that's
been kicking around between Stu Clark (SE R.C.), myself, and various
others. Which is that London could do with a practice session where total
beginners were actively welcomed (though I'm aware that many teams
encourage beginners anyway). Before people scream at the thought, the
plan is to keep beginners largely separate from the "big boys-and-girls"
games. So if all you want to do is play some reasonably high-level
Ultimate, that'd be going on precisely as usual. But we'd also be looking
for a group of volunteers who'd be prepared to take it in turns to help
coach new players.

There's a whole bunch of reasons why we think Ultimate needs something
like this. At this stage I'm just trying to figure out what night would
be most appropriate to do it (sounds like Thursday), and whether we can
run it in conjunction with one of the established Clapham practices (I'd
like to).

You know, seeing as this is purely London-orientated, and the whole
discussion could drag on a bit, it might be one of those times when it
makes sense to set up a separate e-mail discussion group. So I will.

If you'd like to be in on the discussion (even if you just want to lurk
and see what happens) mail me (not BritDisc) back and I'll put you on the
list. We need to get a bit of a shift on tho' - the clocks change quite
soon!

Here comes summer (doo doo do do...)
