I know that there are several teams that feel they cannot survive a Tour event, so don't enter, or combine with other teams. (There were several student teams in the Tour in the last couple of years, but nowhere near as many as used to attend "regular" tournaments. Then again, there are now a far greater proportion of students that play for Student teams in student events, and Open teams in the Tour...) > while >for others it is the top competitive event of the >sport. and: for others it is the chance to prove that their training sessions have been worthwhile. >One tourney format which I have yet to see here is the >hat tourney. This is the only one that I disagree with - UK Ultimate players really don't seem keen on only playing for ONE day... unless it's something serious. Instead, they just roll up to whatever local practice they feel is at their level, and play for a few hours. Hat tournaments seem to be regarded as a light-hearted break from the rigours of "serious" ultimate... as such, you don't find many of your "elite" players attending as they're busy relaxing in other ways...
