Without wanting to discourage students from playing in the Tour, I think it must be said that it isn't *really* aimed at them. How many students play in the top teams? How many students are available during the summer? Not many. As the Tour becomes more 'professional' this trend will continue. Soon having played for three years will simply not be sufficient experience to make it onto a Tour team. This need not be a bad thing for students - they just need to have more competitions designed with them in mind. The problem with the Tour at present is that it has dominated all other flavours of competition - this has been bad for students, women, juniors and fun-seekers alike. I think everyone recognises this and I think steps will be (*are* being) taken to sort this out. So what we need is a more varied choice of events.... And that means we need more players...... I'll shut up now.
