This will, however, be closed to team members and other invited players (but come along if you think you're up to it - we just discourage beginners from these practices). As for what has been known as 'Summer League', which has traditionally taken place on the Common on a Thursday night - with so many London players maybe we should try to make it some kind of summer league rather than just an all-are-welcome practice? Opinions welcome. Roger SHOTGUN PS. As for Ian from Fingers who said: >Some people seem to feel that the solution to the question of dropped >indoor pulls is to abandon the indoor game fothwith and speak no more >of walled and roofed Ultimate. No Ian, it's just that the number of quality players who've picked up serious injuries indoors speaks for itself. Dropped pulls have absolutely nothing to do with it. >I'm sure that many students (oh not another bloody student, I hear >you cry) like myself don't come from areas where Ultimate is easily >accessable, especially when we go home at summertime. As a result >most of the tournaments that that we get to are during the winter >which as a consequence of the weather must be held indoors. I know students are soft - but that's ridiculous. It's warm enough to play outdoors NOW, we've been playing all through the winter OUTDOORS. I even didn't wear my tights this weekend, it was lovely and warm, perfect for laying out - a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon! Why people are playing indoors at his time of year at the weekend is totally beyond me. >Tourneys are, I feel, the place where a "hopeful to improve" player >like myself can learn the most in the least amount of time, even if >it is only indoors ;-). So while the more experienced of you out >there in real world may dismiss them, I do not. I agree - they're great for beginners - that's where most of us picked up alot of skills, but it's important to remember that you should play by the same rules as the big boys, or you'll just squeal when you leave the playground. And if you think we're harsh - just try playing the Yanks.
