Before my abortive attempt to be actively involved in GB this year, one thing was obvious about the attendance at the training session - it was very poor. There were a lot of people there who would be expected to be attending who were not there (obviously some had valid reasons and had given their apologies). But also that a lot of people had already decided that they would not be good enough to attempt GB training and so stayed away. There are a lot of good reasons for people to attend;
1. the competition for places is good, it promotes peoples efforts.
2. It allows the selectors to choose the best team (which may not necessarily be all the best players - so you may have a chance) rather than just take those people who happened to turn up.
3. All the divisions will need players to form opposition teams for training, and so even if you are not good enough to be selected the involvement in the squad will improve you as a player.
4. If you really are not good enough you will find that out (or be subtly told if you are oblivious to the fact) but at least you will have tried.

All the divisions (with the possible exception of the open) need more players at the training sessions, especially women - for both the women's and mixed divisions. So be alert to where the practices are being held, and when - the dates are on the calendar (most are unlikely to 2 days) with the locations to be published once the GB organisers have sorted it.
