HUGHES, Chris <CHughes@chelt.ac.uk writes As accurately pointed out by Rafi I neglected to give a time. Be there ready to begin the practice for 10:30am (so 10:00 am if you want to leisurely put on your boots throw around, chat to your mates, roll up, etc.) p.m.connor@open.ac.uk writes You can get there by taxi from MK central station, this will set you back 4-5 pounds, from what I can work out for the bus timetables you should be able to get the 41 leaving the railway station at 0900 or 1100 and arriving near the fields 15mins later or you can get the 33 which leaves the railway station at 1018 and gets to the fields at 1034, costing about a pound, the buses should go through the village, you should aim to get off them outside Ye Olde Swan pub, from there go down the slope, you should be able to see some floodlight towers not very far away, if you go along the path by the side of the (fenced off) pitches with these towers after 200 metres and a couple of small bridges the path opens out on to some pitches (including the ones being used for ultimate) the pavilion where I imagine everyone will meet will be off to your right. Please note my personal experience of MK bus services is that they are atrociously unreliable Pete HUGHES, Chris <CHughes@chelt.ac.uk writes Again I repeat my call to all and any of you out there for the GB practice. I can now confirm the venue as Woughton Playing Fields in Milton Keynes (so chosen for it's relative ease of access for most people in the country). The practice will be on SATURDAY the 16th of October. This will make it easier for those traveling by train (remember MK is on the main line out of London, and is one stop up on the Inter-city's), and will also allow those long distance travelers - eg from the North and Scotland to return home at their leisure and recover before having to work on Monday. (Before people squawk about the Rugby - England play on Fri 15th against Tonga (1:00pm KO) - and Scotland is the only home country playing; against Spain - a team they beat earlier this year by over 80 points; so no big games to miss). {snip} Thanks (especially to Pete Conner for arranging the venue - there is limited food available on site - burgers / chips) Chris Hughes DoC Directions To Woughton Park; Directions are as follows; from M1(South) or Bedford/Cambridge via A421 Exit at junc.13. Take A421 towards MK & Buckingham, this becomes Standing Way once you're in MK. Stay on Standing Way. About 1/3 of a mile after Kents Hill Roundabout(its signposted) turn left towards Woughton Park and then immediately right to pass under the dual carriageway, then immediately right again into the club's drive. signposts read "Woughton Playing Fields".(The club is clearly visible on the right hand side of the road from Standing Way but there is no right turn off the dual carriageway) >From M1(North) or Bedford/Cambridge via A428 Exit at junc.14. At exit roundabout turn right onto Childs Way. At second roundabout turn right on to Standing Way. Follow directions as above from Kents Hill roundabout. >From South West and Oxford via A421 A421 is called Standing Way upon entering MK, stay on Standing Way. About 500 metres after it crosses the A4146 (its a messy two roundabout system) take a left turn on to Newport Road then immediately right as if to go under the dual carriageway, the entrance to the Fields is on the left just before going under the carriageway. It should be signposted as Woughton Playing fields. --- Wayne Retter at home: wayne@phidelta.demon.co.uk 0181-658-3408 mobile: 07970-903420 __________________________________________________________________ Get your own free England E-mail address at http://www.england.com
