I appreciate it is very long winded, but if I am going to make a good job of being student coordinator then I am going to need your support and comments. Please can you read tis carefully and reply as soon as possible where I have asked for comments or information. First of all, I need the new contact details of all students teams for the forthcoming academic year, to include the name of the team contact, an address, e-mail, and definitely a telephone number. Second I need bids for the regional indoor qualifiers, so far the venues for the South West in Cardiff (Dave Barnard) and the Midlands in Sheffield (Si Weeks), have been confirmed. However no bids have been received form the South East, (come on Skunks, Mohawks you know it makes sense). For the Scotland and the North region I know there were a number of interested parties at the student meeting at Bakewell, but I have heard nothing since. We are looking for at least two pitches to be booked for the entire weekend of either the 20/21 or 27/28 November 1999. Could those teams still interested in hosting it send a bid including size of sportshall, accommodation details, party arrangements and predicted cost per team (don't forget to account for cost of trophies, and BUF tax of £8 per team). We also need a venue for student indoor finals. This will be the 26th/27th Februrary 2000 and will be attended by by the top four teams from each region. The closing date for all these bids is the 1st of October (the friday after Nationals). Third, we need to get a move on with the regional teams, so the coaches in each region need to make themselves known and arrange a date for trials. I propose that squad sessions are held on either the 9/10, 16/17 or 23/24 of October 1999 with the Regional Team Tournament pencilled in for 6/7 November 1999. A venue for this is presently being sorted somewhere in the North of the Midlands. If there are going to be five regions then I think we should have a round robin so that everyone gets to play everyone. As far I can see there are two possibilities. We do it for one day only, so that you don't use up your whole weekend OR we start at about midday on the Saturday and finish about 2pm on the Sunday, so that the teams don't have to set off too early or get home too late. We can then have a bit of social on the Saturday night and make the long trip seem more worth while. Please can I have comments from people on what you think is the best way forward. This is as much as I know about the coaches/selectors for each region at present, please let me know if you volunteered, or you want to. South West and Wales: Dave Barnard South East: Midlands: Joe Mcgrath, Ben Ravillious North: Scotland: Dave Grayson Cheers for getting this far, Pete (your new National Student Co-ordinater)
