Thanks to OW for organising a tournament at short notice, and having things run smoothly even though a few teams cancelled their entry very late. Spirit was shared between Strange Blue and Mohawks 2 (playing ironman). Saturdays play saw Mohawks come top of their pool, after a tight game with Gooey which they won 8-7. In the other pool, OW! and Strange Blue defeated all opposition to set up a crunch game against eachother, which Strange Blue won 10-3. The shock of the day was Cranfield beating Gooey in the crossover pool, which knocked Gooey out of a semi-final spot. Sunday morning began with a tense game between Mohawks and OW!, which OW! began fiercely, taking a 2-1 lead until the Mohawks gathered themselves and took the game, 9-5. The first semi-final pitted OW! against the undefeated Strange Blue, with OW! determined to overturn the previous days defeat. An epic first point lasting 10 minutes or so eventually finished with OW! breaking the Cambridge zone to take the lead, which they never gave up winning 4-2 in a game dominated by defence. Mohawks shut-out Cranfield in the other semi to set up a rematch with the hosts OW! in the final. I don't remember much of this game, the atmosphere was so electric, I know it was 5-5 and then 7-7, when a crucial point block and layout D from the Mohawks saw them take a 9-7 lead which OW! couldn't quite come back from. Final score 9-8. A great tournament, ending in a great final. See you in Leeds. Alex Bowers MOHAWKS
