As before you cannot change CLUBS between regionals and Nationals. If you play for a club at regionals, you must play for the same club at Nationals. Should you not play at regionals you may pick-up with any club at Nationals. Should you play at regionals you do not have to play at Nationals. 2. If a club enters more than one team to regionals then players may move between teams between regionals and nationals (note: players may not switch between games at either tournament - you may only play for one team at each tournament). HOWEVER, should a player move from Team B to Team A, then Team B must forfeit their slot at Nationals if they qualify. This allows you to play experienced players on a weaker team for regionals, and then move them up to your first team for Nationals. If your second team qualifies as well then the experienced player must either stay with the second team, or the second team forfeits their place at Nationals. This also allows you to move players up due to injuries. This rule however will prevent teams from attempting to qualify multiple teams at Nationals, and then organising one good team leaving their weaker second team to occupy spots that should be available to more deserving teams. Note this rule is the same as the rule governing clubs activities between the tour and National Outdoors. This rule will be confirmed at the captains meeting at each of the regional events. Last year at least three teams at nationals were seriously affected by not being able to promote B team players to cover injuries etc. I believe this devalued the quality of nationals as clubs playerd ironman instead of having a B team player as a sub. In most sport you can refuel at a pit stop. Should 2 teams from one club qualify then they can be treated as separate and not permit switching between teams. The other (slightly more radical) alternative would be to consider Nationals as a competition between the top 24 clubs in GB. Therefore don't allow second teams to qualify. Seems to me this takes away a lot of the incentive for certain second teams to play hard at regionals however so I wouldn't be in favour of it. Having said all that - rules were set a few weeks ago and regionals teams will have been picked on the basis of those rules so perhaps we should be discussing a change for next year? Dave.
