Hi developers,

My debut on this list....

Yes indeed, student championships do have qualifying stages in each
region in that *indoor* disc sport (some would call it indoor ultimate).
It may be that soon we will need regional qualifiers for the student
*real* ultimate chapionships, since the number of student teams is
growing at an encouraging rate.

As far as I know, Junior teams were allowed to participate in the
regional indoor student qualifiers, (at least in my region (SE) and also
in the SW - you'll have to ask others in other regions about their tourneys).
In the SE we invited teams (who only had to gather 5 players - if they could
ever muster a team it must be then), but none came.

There are also local student leagues starting up all over the country.
These might be worth looking into. Most games, as far as I know are
played on Weds. afternoon, but I'm sure there would be a little
flexibility for junior teams so that we could play after school. Again,
in our region, we've invited junior teams, but none have even replied,
let alone expressed any interest.

[Aside]
We've also tried to contact the local junior team (Southern lights) on
many occasions, but had no luck. A real problem (at least in my neck of
the woods) seems to be lack of enthusiasm and commitment, which is not
easily remedied.

Back to the idea of juniors in student competition...
However, since there seems to be a move towards trying to get ultimate
taken more seriously, and aligning with BUSA as far as eligibility rules,
etc. go, then this opportunity may not be there much longer.

> I know many would object to this ...

I'm not sure they do. Even if they did, the tourney could be structured
so that no junior team could deny a student team a qualification place,
or even so that they never interfered with the qualification procedure.
This is what has been done in the past with other ineligible teams who
have entered these tourneys.

Well, good luck with this, whoever decides to take it on.
