Did you make it home in time? (Sorry, but somebody had to say it...) For those that don't know, Tour IV in Southampton this weekend saw some interesting results and a change in fortune for many of the top teams... Results: 1 UTI 2 Catch 22 3 Chevron Action Flash 4 Shotgun 5 First Touch 6 Fluid Druids 7 Red 8 Headrush Chevron disposed of Druids in the Saturday pool in the usual Chevvy vs Druids style (no matter who the victors, it's a never close in the scoreline!) putting Druids into 5-12. UTI, Catch 22 and Shotgun finished top of their pools, as expected. Catch 22 caused the semifinal upset by defeating Shotgun (so, Si Hill, how do you feel about being home this weekend?). UTI defeated Chevvy. Druids defeated Blue Arse Flies, and met Headrush. It was close, almost too close, Druids winning sudden-death. This game appeared t take it's toll on both teams, Headrush falling to Red, and Druids loosing another sudden-death, this time vs First Touch, who are quite succesfully taking the Tour one step at a time and moving ever upwards... Meanwhile, Chevvy took on Shotgun in the 3/4 playoff, and proved that their recent narrow defeats in this match-up were actually progress towards victory The Catch 22 vs UTI final was impressive, Guy Bowles earning MVP for a fine set of layouts in the first half. Catch never seemed to quite get the momentum going to overtake UTI in the scoring, though a run of 4 (or so) in the second half made the predicted result a little less certain. Final score, UTI 21-17 Catch 22 (I think!) Spirit of the Game was awarded to Sneeekys. The weather: seemed unsettled on Saturday morning, fitful attempts to rain finally gave way to scorching sunshine. Quite a few teams appeared to suffer from the heat, looking sluggish in their movement. The pitchside water-containers proved invaluable Hopefully we'll get some more info about the rest from someone who was paying more atention to that part of the competition... Wayne Retter Fluid Druids PS: Will/Tim - I need the full listing of final placings, and the spirit votes (which teams got how many votes, and which teams didn't vote) ASAP so that I can update rankings, spirit lists, etc. Seems the heat addled my brain and I forgot to even mention it to you, let alone collect them! ---------------------------------------------------------------- Wayne Retter at home: 01737-242109 wayne@phidelta.demon.co.uk at work: 01737-273611 wayne_retter@watsonwyatt.co.uk
