Teams pulling out of events late... On key element to having Tour was to produce a setup where we could force teams NOT to do this to the organiser. And basically it works (for the Tour). My hope was that this way of working would rub off on teams when they dealt with ANY TD. Apparently this is not yet the case - which is a shame. The main difference is of course that the Tour events are over-subscribed, whereas other tourneys are not. I have the beginnings of a solution to this, and I'm looking forward to working it out with whoever decides to come forward to get involved with the Director of Comp., Tour Director jobs for next year. 2. WORLD CUP/Exeter We had a choice of w/es: the one we took, or one week earlier. If you check out the schedule of the World Cup you will see that a week earlier is QFs - (Fri, Sat, Sun) when in my opinion England are still likely to be playing. I reckoned (back in Feb.) that this was more likely to be a problem than a clash with the w/e of the Final. At the time I understood one of the QFs to be taking place on Sat. afternoon. (I haven't checked recently to find out if this is actually true.) 3. I can't come to Southampton - I hope you all have a good time! I particularly hope that Catch finally duff up Shotgun and UTI - altho' if that were to happen the boys will rip the piss out of me for an eternity! cheers Si
