A student player may be rostered for an OPEN team, but sometimes play with their student team (if they want to). This is allowed, even if the student player's open team is playing at the tour event. (This is a pretty much the same as a rule used by WFDF in the run-up to WUCC each year.) NB - if you hadn't realised this and want to take advantage of it then please check the EXACT details in the rules. (Which you can find in the hand of your team contact, or at <www.phidelta.demon.co.uk/u8-98/index.htm>.) The idea is that this would be extended to women and junior players. Ie - such players would be allowed to play for a women's (or junior's) team instead of their regular open team. Actually after reviewing the rules last year I think we meant to include this anyway - but when I came round to it, I forgot! So essentially we don't see any problems with it. BUT - at this late stage there are some problems, mostly to do with communication. 1. In particular if we are going to allow a rule-change like this its important that everyone knows about it. But I don't have time to anything more than put it on BritDisc and tell captains at the first tournament. (After that - it could go on the Tour Newsletter.) 2. IT IS VITAL THAT ALL PLAYERS UNDERSTAND THAT THEY MAY ONLY PLAY FOR ONE TEAM DURING ANY PARTICULAR TOURNAMENT. THIS APPLIES TO ALL PLAYERS. We intend that this rule change go-ahead unless there are people with reservations (who voice them). I will be assuming that silence means agreement. Unfortunately people who aren't on BD can only agree - unless you tell them whats going on. IF you have an opinion please tell me, or tell BritDisc. In particular this *might* (but probably not) affect you if your team is likely to be finishing around the edge of qualification to Div. 2 at Nationals. Sorry for taking up your time.
