Why 2. What 3. HELP PLEASE! 1. Why ------ Last year its fair to say that it was sometimes difficult to know what was happening: how many points you had, what happened at the last tournament, etc, etc... 2. What ------- This year, we will be producing the so-called Tour Newsletter. This will be a single sheet of paper containing: * latest tournament result * current ranking points * news about the NEXT event, eg who is definitely IN * TOURNAMENT REPORT(s?) * information about the tour itself (when space) The U8 Committee already has the information, (excluding the reports) - and Jonathan Schofield of Shotgun has agreed to do the technical bit: it will be produced in the same manner as the new ultimatum. That is a pdf file that people can download from the web and print out for themselves. Those teams that cannot obtain a copy via this method will have a copy sent to their team contact. TEAMS IN THIS SITUATION WILL NEED TO TELL US ABOUT THIS - but not yet please. 3. HELP PLEASE -------------- REQUIRED: * We need someone (or more than one person) to be involved in writing a tournament report. Its got to be done quickly, and you must be able to EMAIL the report to Jon and I. You don't need to commit to all 5 events: maybe we could have a different reporter for each tournament. ****************************************************************** Secondly, and slightly less glamorously, we will also need help in DISTRIBUTING hard copies. - You will need to be able to download and printout the web-version. - You will need to be produce a reasonable number of copies (about 100) relatively quickly and cheaply - (obviously you won't actually pay for the copying!!) - Send about 20+ copies to teams/players who cannot download for themselves. (Hopefully this number will be smaller.) - Bring the remainder of copies to the subsequent tour event, or arrange for someone else to bring them! Perhaps these tasks could be shared by a group of people living near each other. ****************************************************************** PLEASE GET IN TOUCH IF YOU CAN HELP. amtsjh@amsta.leeds.ac.uk 0113 289 0971 (h) 0113 233 5175 (w) Any ideas about how to deal with the conflict between making hard copies available to as many people as possible, and not having someone spend their life printing envelopes and licking stamps GRATEFULLY received. I trust that the TOUR info is clear and that people are getting organised for Leicester. I hope to see you there. Si ---------- Simon Hill
