Students, After much discussion, the general consensus seemed to be that the rule change preventing experienced players from participating in student competition was seriously floored. Therefore with immediate effect this rule will be abolished. All other rules remain the same. This rule change is not to say that universities should play there best student team at all costs, but that this decision should be in the hands of the club captain rather than in the hands of the BUF. I am sure even for a University football team, the club captain would be reluctant to pick the best player in the University for the cup final, if he had played no part in the previous rounds and never turned up for training. In summary then... · There will be no longer be a limit to the experience of a player. · Each student must be a full or part-time internal student on a graduating course at the institution under consideration. Part-time students must be able to demonstrate that their student status is their primary occupation. · Staff and juniors will remain illegible. · If a student is registered at an institution which does not have a team they must play for their geographically nearest team. This final rule will definately remain for the rest of this academic year, although I am of the opinion, that as the number of teams continues to increase and in order to bring us into line with BUSA, this rule should be reviewed in the near future. Limiting a player to being eligible for only their own institution in student tournaments, would encourage the creation of new university teams, which can only be good for the growth of British Ultimate. I would be interested in any comments anyone has on this issue. Thanks for everyones' input, Simon Weeks Student Co-ordinator P.S. A copy of this along with an invitation to the Student Outdoors was put in the post or given to each team at the Indoor Finals at the weekend. Any student team who has not received this information in the next couple of days, please let me know.################################################### sorby hall, endcliffe vale road, sheffield, s10 3es tel. 0114 222 9999 extension 52252 email: gga95sew@sheffield.ac.uk
