Dear all and sundry,

This is by way of report of the South West Regional Student Qualifiers,
as requested by Dave, making me the keen Mythago player, I suppose. As
you may be able to tell, I've not done one of these before so apologies
for the length / shortness / crapness of it...

Positions as follows:

1) Ow
2) Mythago
3) Discult
4) Picnic
5) Uriel
6) Ow 2
7) No Frills
8) Ow 3
9) Mythago 2
10) Disc-coordinated
11) Picnic 3
12) Picnic 2
13) = Mythago 3
13) = Uriel 2 - Spirit winners

As far as I know, the top five teams qualify for the nationals, but
there was some debate over whether that includes Discult, them being a
junior team and all.

Anyway, the tournie - as everyone who was there will be able to tell
you, it was great. As far as I could tell, most teams improved markedly
as the tournament went on, especially 2nd and 3rd teams, and with no
neglect of spirit of the game. Well done chaps! OW and Mythago ( 1st and
2nd seeds repectively ) came top of the two pools, with most other
places in the pools working out to seeding. No Frills did especially
well to qualify for the top eight, beating their seeding quite
considerably. Good to see so many junior teams doing so well too -
Disc-coordinated causing quite a few upsets! Anway, it all boiled down
to PIcnic vs. Mythago and OW vs. Discult on the second day. The first
was quite a hard faught game for so early in the morning, with Mythago
eventually coming out on top. Discult put up quite a fight, but were
eventually overcome, and so the final: OW vs. Mythago. A great final -
VERY hard, far too much running for my liking, and some great play from
both sides - flow as smooth as a baby's bottie at times. Great spirit
too, except perhaps for a dodgy call towards the end which is far too
hard to explain. OW pulled away early on, but Mythago pulled the gap
back to within one point, eventually going down 12-10. We'll 'ave you in
the Nationals....

Great final for a great tournament. Thanks to Dave and Chris for
organising it all, especially what with having to hire two halls for the
two days. See you at the Nationals if you qualified, and then the
outdoors otherwise!

Cheers

Adam 'Lamb' Brocklehurst - the short one who shouted quite a lot.

P.S. All would be report critics please inform me of my shortcomings....

P.P.S. Except you Rob...
