Hello BDers.

Well folks, in addition to all these ramblings about seedings etc. one has
to question the wisdom of requiring the top teams to take part in
qualifiers.

Surely the sport would be all the better for NOT expecting the likes of
Gun, Druids, UTI & others to go along and participate in two days of utter
humiliation for lower ranking teams, many relatively new to Ultimate. I
doubt that losing to between zero and 3 encourages these teams much. I
think 3 was the most scored against us this weekend and some of those
points were only as a result of some on-field coaching of the opposition
(aren't we lovely popgunners!). I would suggest a re-examination of this
system to allow weaker teams the dignity of playing against their peers.
How often do you hear of Man Utd playing against Fred Smiths Toffee factory
11, Erny Els v my dad or LA 49ers v Brighton B52s?

The bottom line is: If you want to see the better teams beaten (and who
other than Shotgunners themselves would deny that they'd love to see Gun
lose?), then encouragement of new and younger players is probably the best
route. Failing that, your only hope is bribery and corruption (What are we
bid?).
